Description

Port Saplaya (in Valencian, Port Saplatja) is the name of a coastal residential area in the municipality of Alboraya. It is known for its beaches and for its peculiar urban development, which has earned it the tourist nickname of "Little Venice".
Port Saplaya is located in the eastern part of the municipality of Alboraya, on the coast and about 2 km from the centre of Alboraya. It is located about 500 m north of the Carraixet ravine and very close to the V-21 motorway. It is located on the Mediterranean coast, and its beaches are approximately 1 km long.
Port Saplaya was born as a residential area in the 1970s, with its first residents in 1975. From the first moment it was consolidated as an area of second residence, although nowadays it is the first residence of a large part of its inhabitants.
Even so, the population continues to be considerably higher during the summer months.
The urban planning of Port Saplaya is quite peculiar, given that it consists mainly of one or two lines of buildings which, from the beachfront, completely surround the port, which is in the geographical centre of the town and can only be reached on foot.
