Description

The Municipal Natural Park of La Murta and La Casella is part of the network of Areas of Natural Interest of the European Union. It was declared a Municipal Natural Area by Agreement of the Council of the Valencian Government dated November 5, 2004. Its mild temperatures and high humidity have created a characteristic ecosystem, with a large number of fauna and plant species.
The Valle de la Casella is located between the Sierra de la Murta and the Sierra de las Agujas. The Valley is characterized by its spectacular mountainous reliefs where the summits of Las Agujas, Las Cruces and La Ratlla alternate. In La Casella we can go to “Ouet” or “La Ratlla” to enjoy the spectacular scenery or walk along the route of the fountains or through the Pla del Barber.
You can see birds such as the eagle owl or the peregrine falcon, as well as hares, rabbits, wild boars, foxes and wildcats.. Also reptiles and amphibians: ladder snake, snakes, toads and frogs. In addition, at La Casella we have a 1,500 m² enclosure of deer that can be easily observed by the visitor.
The municipal Natural Areas of La Murta and La Casella are must-see places for lovers of hiking, as well as the numerous homologated routes that the municipality has.
