Description

The Mikado locomotive is located in the historic center of Alzira, specifically on Luis Suñer avenue. It is a steam engine from 1953 that symbolizes progress and communications.
A few years ago the image of this locomotive, which is already part of the image of our City, was restored. The action consisted of maintenance tasks through the application of a protective iron base, paint and external lighting that allowed a renewed image to be displayed.
It has been a very popular type of motor vehicle, especially in North America and Europe, with a driving axle, four driving axles, and a supporting rear axle. With its almost 2,000 HP of power, it could reach 115 km / h. It was a machine very adapted for the traction of trains of 3,000 to 5,000 tons.
This type of locomotives that RENFE acquired between 1953 and 1960 marked the end of steam traction in Spain, since they were the last to provide commercial service. This locomotive was used to transport passengers and goods until it was decommissioned
Its numbering is 141-2202, although its structure has attached the plate of the locomotive 141-2206.
