Description

On December 28, 2018, a monument to the Brotherhood (cofrade) and Tamborada was inaugurated on Mayor Santa Catalina street, the work of the sculptor Javier Soro, on the occasion of the Declaration as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the "Tamboradas".
It is a monument to people who year after year make our city continue to celebrate The Holy Week.
Alzira Holy Week was declared a Asset of National Tourist Interest in 1988. It is a traditional and religious festival that has 18 brotherhoods and 25 steps, which are true works of art and that parade through the city in traditional processions. In addition you can visit the canopies decorated by these brotherhoods, which increase their number of visitors each year due to their great beauty and quality of them.
The Tamborada has also been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2018. It is inscribed in a typology typical of collective rites based on the simultaneous, intense and continuous touch of thousands of drums.
