Description

The Casassús Palace is a stately palace structured on three floors located in Alzira, in the square of the same name. The palace as a whole is an Asset of Local Relevance (BRL).
This old palace, dating from the end of the 17th century and measuring 770 m², was acquired in 2005 by Alzira Town Council. It is currently being refurbished to be used as municipal offices and services.
Different actions have been carried out such as the reinforcement of the walls of the façade, the consolidation of the arches that are appearing in the building, the reinforcement of the third floor, the restructuring of the staircase in the courtyard and the restoration of the walls of the building. It was during the restoration work that the heritage importance of this building was confirmed by archaeological finds, such as the magnificent voussoir reused in the Gothic palace as a doorway to a pavement that was found at a depth of approximately 1.60 metres.
On the façade, the noble coat of arms stands out, which has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC). On the ground floor there are Gothic arches. Together with Alzira Town Hall, this palace is one of the most important examples of foral architecture in the region.
