Paneles homenaje al cultivo de la naranja.(Alzira)

These three ceramic panels, which began to be installed in 2018, commemorate the 500th anniversary of orange growing in the city. A practice rooted in our city for centuries, and although nowadays it is no longer the main driving force of the local economy, it has been a determining factor throughout history. The theme of these panels represents everyday Valencian scenes related to this citrus fruit.
The first of the panels is located on the Avenida Sants Patrons, near the taxi rank, with an image of the old bridge of San Bernat accompanied by the slogan "Alzira. Origin, homeland and market of the orange and its trade. 1517-2017".
The second of the ceramic altarpieces is located in the Pere Crespí park, and is dedicated to the women who worked handling the oranges in the warehouse for export, and with the same inscription as the previous one.
The third and last panel commemorating the 500 years of orange growing in the city of Alzira depicts two farmers picking oranges from the field to be transported by cart to a warehouse, with the inscription "Alzira and the orange, 1517-2017". It is located in the square of Corbeil Essonnes, a highly visible place, at the main entrance to the town.
The local ceramist Xavier Claur has been in charge of the three panels that help to spread the importance of Alzira in the cultivation of the orange tree to neighbours and visitors.
Alzira pays tribute to all those who have dedicated their lives to orange growing over the last 500 years.

Estos tres paneles cerámicos, que comenzaron a instalarse en 2018 conmemoran el 500 aniversario del cultivo de la naranja en la ciudad. Una práctica arraigada en nuestra ciudad a lo largo de siglos, y aunque en la actualidad ya no sea el principal motor de la economía loca,l ha sido determinante a lo largo de la historia. La temática de estos paneles representa escenas cotidianas valencianas relacionadas con este cítrico.
El primero de los paneles está situado en la avenida Sants Patrons, a la altura de la parada de taxis y con una imagen del antiguo puente de San Bernat acompañada por el lema “Alzira. Origen, patria y lonja de la naranja y su comercio. 1517-2017”.
El segundo de los retablos cerámicos está ubicado en el parque Pere Crespí, y está dedicado a las mujeres que trabajaban manipulando las naranjas en el almacén para la exportación, y con la misma inscripción que el anterior.
El tercero y último panel conmemorativo de los 500 años del cultivo del naranjo en la ciudad de Alzira representa dos labradores recogiendo naranjas del campo para ser transportadas en carro hasta un almacén, con la inscripción “Alzira y la naranja, 1517-2017”. Está ubicado la plaza de Corbeil Essonnes, un lugar con mucha visibilidad, en la entrada principal en la ciudad.
El encargado de realizado los tres paneles que contribuyen a difundir a los vecinos y visitantes la relevancia de Alzira en el cultivo del naranjo ha sido el ceramista local Xavier Claur.
Alzira rinde así homenaje a todas y todos a los que a lo largo de 500 años han dedicado su vida al cultivo de la naranja.
