Description

This palace is built on the old castle of Anna already existing in the twelfth century. The palace consists of: a main body that falls to the Alameda and three other bodies, the rear facing east on the river of Anna. Inside there was a courtyard and in its center a fountain. The walls that surrounded this courtyard were crowned by small battlements with protruding loopholes and windows in Gothic style, although with later modifications. At one end there was a ramp leading to a subway. In the main body of the palace is the access door. At one of its ends there was a projection that must have once formed a tower. The hallway is vaulted, with pointed arches and windows of the same type.

Attached to the palace is the chapel of Santa Ana with an exit to the Plaza de la Alameda. Its windows facing the Nero, give us to contemplate a majestic panorama with the river Anna and its vegetation at his feet.

The first reference we have about the building dates from 1244, specifically from September 4 of the same year in which, according to Vicente Rausell, there is a deed of donation of the castle of Anna, granted by James I of Aragon, who along with him, gives the Villas of Anna and Enguera to the Order of Santiago, being master D. Pelayo Pedro Correa. From its foundational stage back in the XII /XIII centuries we have the foundations of the building at the back.

The first transformation of the building took place after 1604 when the Villa de Anna was sold in the time of Philip III. On May 3, 1604, the King erected the Villa of Anna as a county and it was D. Fernando Pujades Olim Borja and his wife Francisca Alapont Relleu, Lady of Relleu, the first Counts of Anna, who took charge of the primitive castle. It was at this time that the Counts began the remodeling of the building to make it habitable for the family.

After the earthquake of 1748 and due to the restoration works that were carried out in the church due to the collapse of the vaults, a tent was installed in the Plaza de los Alamos where the Blessed Sacrament was temporarily placed and where the worship continued provisionally, as the works were spaced in time, it was moved to the garden of the Palace and finally to the oratory, which was opened to the worship of the entire population until January 16, 1750, when the works of the Church were completed.

In the year 1885 important restoration works were carried out at the expense of Cruz Navarro Sarrión and for this reason, an oil painting was painted, which according to Vicente Rausell was kept in the sacristy of the Parish Church of Benetúser, "in which the figure of S. Vicente Ferrer appears and in the background the building of the church. Vicente Ferrer and on bottom the building of the Palace with the scaffoldings and in the low part the figures of Santa Ana and Santa Bárbara, one to each side of the picture " and in the base of the picture an inscription with the date of 1855 and the name of Cruz Navarro Sarrión.

Around 1890 the Counts sold their properties to D. Ricardo de Trenor Bucelli, married to Doña. Josefa Isabel Palavicino Ibarrola. This couple spent long periods of time in the building in the Plaza de los Alamos. In the last years of the 1980s, negotiations were initiated with the Trenor family for the acquisition of the Palace House by the City Council of Anna. Around 1995, work began to adapt the building for public use, which was completed in 2007, with Fernando Sarrión Ramos as mayor.
