Description

It is an archaeological site of great national importance, as it has been discovered the footprint of different prehistoric societies, such as those belonging to the Upper Paleolithic, Neolithic and Eneolithic. The inhabitants of the cave had access to its interior through 3 different entrances: 2 located in the arch of the vault and another in the central part. The latter is larger and reaches a height of 10 meters. In each of the 3 stratigraphic levels that have been formed over the years, different remains were discovered, for example, the highest one contained ceramic objects and pieces of flint, the intermediate one contained laurel leaves, arrowheads and fins, while the deepest of the three hid small tiles with engraved figures and remains of paint. The fact of gathering remains from 3 stages gives great importance to the cave, as it seems to have revolutionized -together with the Cova del Parpalló- the studies of the moment at national and international level. The cave has more than 100 square meters and was a hunters' cave, a refuge for Neolithic shepherds and an Ibero-Roman sanctuary.
