The Parish of San Miguel Arcángel was the private oratory of the monks of the monastery of Simat de la Valldigna from the second half of the seventeenth century until the disentailment of Mendizábal in which the friars were expelled from the convent and expropriated of their property.
It was enlarged and catalogued as a parish church, thanks to D. Juan Fernández (also known as D. Juan de Torrent) during the 19th century, of which the current façade and the two bells remain, the larger one called María Micaela in honor of San Miquel Arcángel (patron saint of the church) and the smaller one called María Pastora in honor of the María Pastora (patron saint of Barx).
La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel era el oratorio privado de los monjes del monasterio de Simat de la Valldigna desde la segunda mitad del siglo XVII hasta la desamortización de Mendizábal en la cual los frailes fueron expulsados del convento y expropiados de sus bienes.
Fue ampliada y catalogada como parroquia, gracias a D. Juan Fernández (también conocido como D. Juan de Torrent) durante el siglo XIX del cual se mantiene la fachada actual y las dos campanas, la más grande llamada María Micaela en honor a San Miquel Arcángel (titular de la iglesia) y la más pequeña llamada María Pastora en honor a la María Pastora (patrona de Barx).
