It was of great importance in the context of European prehistory given the long chronocultural sequence that its sediment covers, being a basic site to explain the world of Neanderthal man and the Mousterian culture.
It has provided abundant information on the paleoenvironmental variations that occurred during the Riss-Würm interglacial and phases I and II of the Würm glaciation. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) by Royal Decree 2429/83.
Fue de gran importancia en el contexto de la prehistoria europea dada la prolongada secuencia cronocultural que su sedimento abarca, siendo un yacimiento básico para explicar el mundo del hombre de Neanderthal y la cultura Musteriense.
Ha aportado abundante información relativa a las variaciones paleoambientales que se dieron en el interglaciar Riss-Würm y las fases I y II de la glaciación Würm. Está declarado Bien de Interés Cultural (BIC) por el Real Decreto 2429/83.
