Description

The Sierra Helada declared Natural Park on March 11, 2005 with an area of 5,564 hectares, of which 4,920 are in marine environment. We can admire the cliffs and the various fractures, such as the faults of Punta de l'Escaleta and Punta de l'Albir.
Caves such as Boca de la Ballena. The continuation under the sea of the mountain range and its new emergence on the waters of the islet of Benidorm. There have been found several sites and remains of fishing activities since the Neolithic, largely disappeared under the contemporary constructions.

It was a place of passage of the colonizing Mediterranean peoples, and a point of exchange of products. We can also observe several watchtowers for protection against piracy, such as those of Seguró, Bombarda, l'Aguilló in the Tossal de la Cala de Benidorm and Xarco in the Vila. It has two environmental recognitions: second prize (among 300 cities) Sustainable City awarded by the Environmental Forum Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment and remodeling and expansion of the treatment of flows and an improvement in the hydraulic infrastructure.
