Description

Inside the building, important remains of late flamboyant Gothic architecture can be observed, as well as the majestic art achieved in plasterwork around doorways, windows and passages, which are decorative elements of great constructive and artistic quality.

During the War of Succession in 1705, with the confrontation between "Maulets" and "Botiflers", where the supporters of the Archduke Charles of Austria on the one hand, and those of Philip V of Bourbon on the other - here we remember the unfortunate episodes of the Battle of Almansa and the burning of the city of Játiva -, the lord of Bolbaite, Don Luis Pardo de la Casta, opted for the first, swearing to respect and defend Els Furs de Valencia. But as Valencia surrendered to Philip V in 1707, the Pardo de la Casta family fled to Flanders.

Their descendants, the Fernández de Córdoba, Lanti Della Rovere and Manfredi, left the building to its fate. Between 1875 and 1896, the building was partially demolished in order to take advantage of its wood and other materials.

The building occupies an area of 568 m². In the northern part of the main enclosure, there are two square towers. One built in the Christian period, made of ashlar masonry, and the other made of rammed earth and masonry, from the Islamic period.

Another important element to highlight in the decoration of the building are the spiral staircases carved in stone, of traditional characteristics, as well as the Gothic staircase that gives entrance to the building, with magnificent slab steps throughout its entire flight, which still stands today, despite the passage of time.

Despite its condition and the passing of the centuries, its voluminous and evocative figure continues to dominate the town.

The Bolbaite Town Hall is currently studying its recovery and rehabilitation.
