Description

The architectural style of the façade of this building is an example of the prevailing trend at the beginning of the 20th century of paying attention to the ornamental details of its façades as symbols of the company's commercial value.
The original building had a rectangular, single-storey plan and a single entrance door.
The main façade has a symmetrical layout, and the signs are still visible, arranged diagonally along the slope of the pitched roof, indicating the activity carried out in the building "Anisados - Licores" (Anisados - Liquors).
The interior of the building has undergone a series of modifications, as the company needed more space to develop its activity.

The founder of this company, Mr. Manuel Ferrándiz Hernández, owned a grocery shop next to the Campo de Mirra Town Hall, and at the same time worked for Mr. Fernando Amorós, an important industrialist from Biar, dedicated to various activities. Fernando, focused on wine production, would transfer the distillery activity to him, leading him to start his activity in Campo de Mirra.

When he started the distillery activity, he established himself in the building located in front of this factory. The First World War had a positive effect on the company's activity, as during those years the activity was incessant, considerably increasing the number of exhibitions and leading Mr. Manuel to expand his installations. It was then, in 1917, that the building in question was constructed.

During the Spanish Civil War, Manuel, aware that he was going to be arrested, fled to Murcia. His factory was seized, and he continued his activity with the person in charge of the administration.
At the end of the Civil War, the property was returned to him, and he continued his business again.
In the middle of the 20th century, Mr. Manuel was succeeded by his son Mr. José María Ferrándiz, who enlarged the factory and acquired the brand name of the liqueurs produced in Colonia de Santa Eulalia.
Some of the most prestigious specialities were Anís Mirra and Santa Eulalia cognac, without forgetting the wide variety of syrups with flavours of lemon, strawberry, blackberry, pineapple, raspberry, redcurrant, coconut... Also outstanding were the cocoa cream, punch, vodka, mint, as well as other liqueurs called Amor de Soltera or Perfecto Amor.

José Antonio was succeeded by his two sons, Manuel José and José Antonio. José Antonio, until, over the years, due to the change in consumer habits among the public and competition from other producers, what had been a prosperous and profitable industry finally began to languish, and his heirs were forced to cease the activity definitively in the 1980s, So that only the building that once housed its headquarters, a collection of bottles of its well-known products and various commercial documents and household goods have survived to the present day, reminding us of the past existence of what was once the Manuel Ferrándis Liquor and Syrup Factory.
