Description

The building consists of a ground floor, a main floor and a chamber. Although the architectural composition of the whole construction is remarkable, the most outstanding element is the interior decoration, as it has a very important sample of ceramic tiles from the 18th century. On the main floor there are decorative frescoes on the walls and ceilings.

Carcaixent had a notable economic growth in the 18th century due to the cultivation of mulberry trees and the silk trade. The palace was built in this context by Vicente Talens Garrigues, Marquis of La Calzada, although it underwent a major refurbishment in the 19th century.
Inside, it has an important ceramic decoration and its kitchen stands out, where the tiles depict scenes from everyday life and a wide variety of foodstuffs.
The kitchen was the most important part of the service area and was located next to the dining room, in the lower part of the house, to prevent the spread of bad smells.
Nowadays, the palace is a municipal dependency and is popularly known as the "Palacio de la Marqueseta", since María Antonia Talens Mezquita, daughter of the marquis, lived there.
