Description

Part of the bell tower was built in the 18th century with the parish church and its external appearance changed during later interventions, possibly in the 19th or early 20th century. During the 1980s, the Salvador Manclús foundry mechanised the bells. The wooden bristles were replaced with iron ones and all the bells were mechanised with continuous flight motors and three-phase electro-machines. This intervention entailed the loss of the traditional installations and the old tolls.
The four bells are automatically rung and turned.

The belfry has four bells of great interest. The smallest is by an unknown author, but it could be attributed to Jaime Roses. It was cast in 1848, the same year that it appears on other bells located in Alcàntera, Beneixida and Cotes. The next one is dedicated to the Assumption and was cast by the Roses de Chella family in 1809. The two larger ones are from the Hijos de Vicente Roses foundry and were cast between 1926 and 1927.

On the staircase there are several U-shaped irons, grouped two by two and arranged at various heights, which suggest that at least the two large ones were rung manually from the foot of the bell tower by means of long ropes attached to the clappers. The four bells were rung from the bell room and some of the larger ones rang the hours.

The current installation is not conducive to the conservation of the bells and has no connection with the local tradition, so the whole ensemble had to be restored.
