Description

The Hermitage of Santa Barbara is located at the exit of Chulilla in the direction of Sot de Chera, on a small elevation and giving its name to the neighborhood that surrounds it.

Its lines are simple and geometric, with a front porch supported by two pillars open to a small square. In the pediment, topped by a square belfry with a capitol and a wrought iron cross, there is a flared window. On the sides of the building there are attached the houses of the hermit, covered by roof to a single slope, whereas the one of the building is to two waters. The flattened door is framed in arch of average point, in whose keystone the name of the hermitage is read. On its sides there is a flared window and ashlar benches. Next to the entrance a modern ceramic panel represents the titular saint.

The interior has a single rectangular nave. The entrance has a lower ceiling due to the existence of a choir above it; the rest of the ceiling is of ribbed vaults separated by a sash arch. It has side chapels and a choir at the foot, above the entrance. The decoration is multicolored, and it emphasizes a burial next to the pulpit, with tombstone of the year 1780.
