Description

Monument declared of Cultural Interest (BIC), it was a fortress on the banks of the river Júcar on a hill about 5 km from Dos Aguas. Unfortunately, its current state is one of ruin, being able to appreciate only some of the remains of the old wall.

It was part of a network to secure the southern border of the Kingdom of Valencia, as well as the passage from the interior to the coast by way of the Júcar River. In fact, the castle is built on the muela, in a privileged place of control of the accesses, taking advantage of a singular meander of the river.

During the visits to the castle it is verified the chosen of the place for the control of the accesses through the river Júcar, as well as the difficulties to accede to the same one.

In its interior two cisterns can still be observed, for the collection and storage of rainwater.
