Description

In the highest part of the village, on the living rock of the mountain and on a former Arab mosque, the church was built in 1329, in Gothic style and dedicated to Sant Antoní Mártir.
For its construction tile bricks of Muslim origin were used.
In the XVII and XVIII centuries, this church had its first widening, the side walls were opened then, and side chapels were built in Renaissance style with the respective domes. As mentioned before, in the church are deposited the two sepulchral vases of the 14th century belonging to the Carròs family (lords of the Barony of Rebollet), which in 1747, a neighbor of the municipality found by chance among the ruins of the Castle of Rebollet. The tomb of Francesc Carròs I († 1343 in Cerdanya) on the left side and that of Francesc Carròs II, his son, on the right side. The sepulchres, engraved with inscriptions and family coats of arms, were deposited in the church by order of the Duchess of Gandía.

Finally, in 1792, the bell tower was erected. This is an element that defines and references the profile of the town as it is a vertical structure that is located at the highest point of the town and can be seen from afar. It is square, with a base of 5.25 meters and a height of 45 meters.
In 1890, a reform was carried out, which consisted in the demolition of the abbey house, for the construction of the Chapel of the Santíssim Crist de l'Empar; although, with this reform it lost all its primitive old Gothic air. The chapel of the Mare de Déu del Remei and the tombs were also moved to the present location.
On the sides of the main altar there are two paintings dated 1966 by the local painter Rafael Fuster Insa. On the right side is the painting of the Transfiguration of the Lord, and on the left side the painting of the Resurrection of the Lord.

Finally, in 1986, work was begun on the walls of the nave of the church and the pointed arches of solid brick and the Gothic ribbed vaults that we can now admire were brought to light. This work was completed in 1992.
