Description

In the main square is the emblematic fountain that gives its name to our town. Popularly known as Els Xorros, which together with the coat of arms of the year 1826 that presides over the fountain, are a reminder of the past. This fountain and other smaller ones supplied water to the population. Between the years 1911-1929, a well was built in the Plaça de l'Església and a waterwheel was used to draw water, so that the people who lived in the upper part of the town could get water without having to go down to the square.

In the years 1949-1950 the square underwent renovations and the old fountain was destroyed, and another octagonal fountain was built with marble stones in the same square, in front of the current number 9 of the plaça Francesc Carròs.
In 1950, as a consequence of the urbanization of the streets, the fountain and the one that was used as a washing place and public watering place were moved, and the new fountain was built with the proper water conduction.
The Town Hall, again, restructured the square in 1971. The project included the paving and urbanization of the Plaça Francesc Carròs and the transfer of the public fountain to its current location so that our historic fountain, which gave its name to this town, the Font d'en Carròs, would also be an emblematic place in our town.

The figures and cannons are original from the old fountains.
