Description

Known as Pont de Fortaleny, it was inaugurated on 7 May 1916. Its construction was promoted by the deputy Francisco Peris Mencheta and was carried out by the Maquinista Terrestre y Marítima de Barcelona. This work spans the River Xúquer, on the road from Sueca to Corbera and Alzira, currently the CV-509. The blessing of the bridge was attended, among other personalities, by Miguel Payá, vicar general of the archbishopric of Valencia, Francisco Peréz, captain general of Valencia, as well as various local and provincial authorities, accompanied by a multitude of citizens of Sueca and neighbours of Fortaleny.

This infrastructure, designed in 1906 by the engineer Arturo Monfort, has 11 spans and a total length of 232 metres with an arched span of 70.80 metres. At the end of 2015, an agreement was announced between the Provincial Councillor for Roads, Pablo Seguí, and the mayoress of Fortaleny, Juani Clos, announcing the rehabilitation of the bridge, for cycling and pedestrian use, by the Provincial Council of Valencia, for 2016, the year of the bridge's centenary.
