Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Asunción(Foyos)

The parish of Foyos dates back to the time of the conquest and was very important, as in the 17th century its jurisdiction covered the neighbouring villages of Meliana, Albalat dels Sorells and Vinalesa. However, the old church was demolished in 1729, and the current church was built, the first stone of which was laid on 17 January 1730. The master builder Jose Minguez was in charge of the works. The façade is made of tiles and stone, the main door has two fluted Doric columns, the architrave is jagged and the bell tower is not as slender as those of the 17th century, but it stands out from the façade. The interior of the church is large, with three naves and the main altar dedicated to the Virgen del Patrocinio, patron saint of Foyos. The interior features several Baroque altarpieces, as well as Neoclassical imagery and paintings.

La parroquia de Foyos es del tiempo de la conquista y tuvo mucha importancia, puesto que en el siglo XVII su jurisdicción abarcaba a los pueblos limítrofes de Meliana, Albalat dels Sorells y Vinalesa. Pero, el templo antiguo fue derrocado el año 1729, y se construyó el actual, del cual la primera piedra se puso el 17 de enero de 1730. La dirección de las obras estaba a cargo del maestro Jose Minguez. La fachada es de baldosa y piedra, la puerta principal tiene dos columnas estriadas de orden dórico, el arquitrabe es dentado y el campanario no es tan esbelto como los del siglo XVII, pero destaca sobre la fachada. El interior del templo es grande, con tres naves y el altar mayor dedicado a la Virgen del Patrocinio, patrona de Foyos. De su interior cabe mencionar varios retablos barrocos, así como imaginería y pinturas neoclásicas.
