Description

The Cova del Parpalló is one of the most important Upper Palaeolithic caves in the world, where a collection of rock art plaques (+6,000) was found. It is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) and is in the process of being declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is a natural shelter formed by the dissolution of the limestone rocks of the Mondúver massif and is located within the Parpalló-Borell Municipal Natural Park, a protected natural area, which covers an area of 560 hectares. The cave was continuously inhabited by humans, it is estimated that between 29,000 BC and 11,000 BC.
