Description

The Loriguilla reservoir is located in the Turia river basin, between the municipalities of Chulilla and Loriguilla, Valencia. This reservoir has a maximum surface area of 264 ha and a maximum capacity of 71 hm³. Its construction meant that the towns of Loriguilla and Domeño had to be moved to other locations, as their more fertile lands would be submerged under the waters. The functions of the Loriguilla reservoir include urban supply, irrigation supply and regulation, and hydroelectric production.

The dam, which is state-owned by the Confederación Hidrográfica del Júcar, is a mass concrete gravity dam with a curved ground plan with a radius of curvature of 400 metres, a triangular profile with a slope 0.05 upstream and 0.75 downstream and a height of 57.50 metres above the river bed and a maximum height above foundations of 78.67 metres; it has a crest length of 198 metres.
