Description

The hermitage that the town of Losa del Obispo has dedicated to the Virgen de los Dolores is located on the outskirts of the town towards Chulilla, near the cemetery, on the so-called Loma del Calvario.

The place, which includes the Via Crucis of beautiful and large stations, is a very pleasant and well-kept environment, with a fountain, benches and tables surrounded by pine trees. The view is also excellent.

Calvary and hermitage date from the 19th century and are in an excellent state that denotes constant attention.
It is a construction of octagonal plant, covered by peralted dome with the traditional blue tiles and white nerves, very similar to the dome of the Chapel of the Communion of the parish church of the town, finished off by lantern and cupulin with cross and weather vane. Above the linteled door, which is accessed by two steps, there is a tombstone with the name of the hermitage sculpted, and next to it, a ceramic altarpiece representing the XII station of the Via Crucis.

A grille in the door allows us to observe perfectly the luminous interior: inside the glazed niche in the altar the beautiful image of the Dolorosa richly adorned and surrounded by flowers is venerated.
