Description

All this water comes from the Torre de Lloris weir: the millenary reservoir that diverts the water from the river Albaida into the Acequia Común. The canal runs along the right bank of the river and crosses the Barxeta stream, from where it also collects water, if necessary, to enter Manuel's municipal district.

Along its course, the irrigation channel has three drainage beacons that open to discharge water into the river when there is an excessive flow. The last of these, gates open in turn, is Argue (an "argue" is the turn of a beam mill), which is located towards the end of Carrer la Font (or Joan Moreno), at Manuel. When the floodgate is opened, the water leaps over the pool formed by the river in that corner, giving rise to a beautiful postcard.

This Argue can be found 50 metres ahead of Carrer Joan Moreno, at the Casa de la Acequia.

Within our village, we find the so-called Parada irrigation ditch which waters the area of Les Foies and which, when there is no water supply, takes the water that comes to it, being able to give the surplus to certain lands in the Salinas. But it has the right to use the water as many times as I need it from the 24th of June, from Monday when the sun rises until Thursday when it rises again, but always on the condition that it does not cede it to other parcels or let it go down. In this partidor de la Parada, since medieval times, the water from the irrigation channel has been distributed weekly in two batches, sovereign (or from above) and jusana (or from below), consecrated by a ruling of 4 April 1472.

A few metres further on, the Comuna is again divided into two branches, one of them, the Terç irrigation channel, irrigates part of the district of Castellón with a third of the flow and the other two thirds continue under Manuel's houses in the square and with a large turn towards Ènova, passing through the old villages of Faldeta, Torreta, Abad and Sancho.
