Description

The temple began to be built in the 12th century, replacing the old mosque, being the first Moorish place in the diocese in which such a change was carried out. More than 800 years old, it is late Gothic in style. The altarpiece contained a supposedly miraculous image of Christ which was unfortunately destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, leaving only a few remains. The church of Masalavés is considered a church of Rome and is the only one outside the city to hold this title. It seems to have been granted when the manor belonged to the Milá family, who were relatives of the Borgia or Borgia Popes.
