Description

It is a small fortification which had two enclosures. The exterior lacked towers. The interior, located in the highest part adapting to the topography, has high walls made of mud and towers at the ends.

The tower of the homage, of square plant and several heights, is made with tapial on stone basement.

Despite the diminutive with which it is named, the Castillet rises haughty and omnipresent over the orchard of Millares. From a stark rock, the fortress watches over the terraces of a timid agricultural development to the west and the river Júcar to the east.

The Castillet preserves the entire route of the wall, but the passage of time has damaged important parts of the canvas. The abandonment and the collapse have buried under the earth the area of the wall or the remains of the internal structures such as barns or rooms that the archaeological works are bringing to light. From the excavations have been recovered pieces of kitchen pottery that draw a stable picture of life in the Castillet, a permanent habitat for the garrison that guarded the square. But they have also recovered remains of table pottery dating an occupation between the late twelfth and early thirteenth century that coincide with the last period of Islamic rule in the Sharq Al-Alandalus before the Christian conquest of James I.
