Description

The church of Santos Joans is of baroque period in general, combining different artistic styles. In such a way that they can find a survival of the Gothic with Renaissance elements, especially decorative character.

The temple has a single nave, with a wide rectangular plan, with side chapels between buttresses. It has a simple ribbed roof in the first three bays. This type of ribbed ceiling is an example of the strong disruption of the Gothic style in Valencia.

Of the interior ornament we would emphasize the Valencian ceramic planks of the chapel of the sacrament representing the characteristic emblems of the Patriarch. Another remarkable element would be the altarpiece on the door of the sacristy, painting of the XVII century, that represents the Mother of God giving the scapular. To the interior of this dependences a painting to the fresco representing the archangel S. Gabriel surrounded by a medallion. Century XVIII, with decorative characteristics of the rococo.

The chapel of the communion of the XIX century, of academicism style, presents interesting paintings in the dome and that in lamentable state, the lateral murals are of the sixties, work of M.Vaquer.
