Description

In 1780-1786 the nave was extended with three side chapels and a very austere border. The time came to acquire new images and altarpieces, the first of which was that of the Virgin of the Angels, the work of the sculptor Josep Esteve (1787).

The church was paved with Ràfol tiles between 1789 and 1790, and some of the bricks bear the signature of the authors (Josep Herrero and Vicent Orts). In 1792 the figure of the Divine Saviour was acquired, also by the sculptor Esteve. The altarpieces and paintings are the work of the Albaidí artist Venanci Pla. The altarpiece of the main altar was replaced in the 1880s.

The façade of the building was renovated in 1907-1908 in the style it has today, and between 1908 and 1917 the bell tower was built and the floor of the church was renovated. In 1928 the doors were renovated and in 1933 the pictorial decoration was restored and repainted in 1985.

Unfortunately, in 1936, a large part of the heritage and the archives were destroyed. New images and altarpieces were commissioned, which are the ones we find today.

The present building is in Neoclassical style and has a Latin cross plan. Inside, there is an 18th century canvas conservation of San Blas and San Francisco and a large display of religious gold and silverwork. The last works have consisted of a pictorial reform of the interior of the temple.
