Castillo de Riba-roja de Túria(Riba-roja de Túria)

The Castle is the oldest and the most emblematic building in the old town of Riba-roja de Túria. It has been declared Monument of Significant Cultural Interest with the Monument category. The Castle is very large and is a complex and diverse buildings with walls built during many different eras.
The main castle was built during the Islamic era. After the Christian conquest, the building became the residence of the lords of the barony of Riba-roja. During the medieval period the building underwent a great transformation in order to adapt it to its new function as a stately palace. The City Council acquired the building in 1989 and renovation work began in 2004.
Today, the Castle functions as a cultural center where many events take place: exhibitions, concerts, talks, conferences, guided tours, weddings, etc. In addition, it houses two archaeological museums, the Visigoth Museum of Pla de Nadal (MUPLA) and the Museum of Ceramics of the Castle (MUCA) and contains the Contemporary Art Space the Castle.

El castillo de Riba-roja de Túria es el edificio más antiguo y emblemático del casco antiguo de Riba-roja de Túria. Está declarado Bien de Interés Cultural bajo la Categoría de Monumento. El Castillo es una construcción de gran volumen, formada por la yuxtaposición sucesiva de diferentes cuerpos procedentes de diferentes épocas lo que confiere una gran diversidad y complejidad al edificio.
Fue construido durante la época islámica. Tras la conquista cristiana, el edificio se transformó en la residencia de los señores de la baronía de Riba-roja. Durante la época medieval el edificio sufrió una gran transformación a fin de adaptarlo a su nueva función de palacio señorial. El Ayuntamiento adquirió el edificio en 1989, los trabajos de rehabilitación se iniciaron en 2004.
Hoy en día, el Castillo funciona como centro cultural en donde se desarrollan multitud de eventos: exposiciones, conciertos, charlas, conferencias, visitas guiadas, bodas, etc. Además, alberga dos museos arqueológicos el Museo Visigodo de Pla de Nadal (MUPLA) y el Museo de Cerámica del Castillo (MUCA) y contiene el Espai d` Art Contemporani El Castell
