The town of Riba-Roja de Turia, although located near the river Turia, had to look for ways to get drinking water, as the river water was not enough. The Count of Revillagigedo ordered the construction of the Cistern in front of the manor house known as "Castillo". Very similar to a cistern, but supplied by the water from the Quint irrigation channel, the Cistern was filled in winter and was not used until the summer, so it was consumed filtered and fresh. Its dimensions and capacity are about 25 metres deep, 5 metres high and 5 metres wide, covering at least 500,000 litres. In 1960 and with the prohibition of using water from any well due to the danger of an outbreak of typhus, with drinking water in all the houses, the wells fell into disuse, using only those located next to the farmland for irrigation. Nowadays, it can be visited as part of the Water Route, organised by Tourist Info of Riba-roja de Túria.
El pueblo de Riba-Roja de Turia, aunque se encuentra cerca del río Turia, tuvo que buscar formas de conseguir agua potable, puesto que la del río no era suficiente. El Conde de Revillagigedo mandó a construir la Cisterna frente a la Casa Señorial conocida como “Castillo”. Muy parecida a un aljibe, pero abastecida por las aguas de la acequia del Quint, la Cisterna se llenaba en invierno y no se utilizaba hasta el verano, por lo que se consumía filtrada y fresca. Sus dimensiones y capacidad son de unos 25 metros de profundidad, 5 de alto y 5 de ancho, cubicando por lo tanto, al menos, 500.000 litros. En 1960 y con la prohibición de utilizar el agua de cualquier pozo ante el peligro de un brote de tifus, con el agua potable en todas las viviendas, los pozos caen en desuso, utilizándose exclusivamente los situados junto a las tierras de cultivo para regarlas. Actualmente, se puede visitar dentro de la Ruta del agua, realizada por Tourist Info de Riba-roja de Túria.
