Description

One of the most important restorations took place in 1991 when the old original bell tower was replaced by a new one with three arches. In the central arch was placed the main bell, dating from the 17th century and cast in heavy bronze, which is inscribed with the French phrase Loue soit a(i) amais tres adorable sacrament de la vie (Loue soit a(i) amais tres adorable sacrament de la vie). The other two arches are completed with two bronze bells, one named Santa Cruz weighing approximately 31 kg and the other Ecce Homo weighing approximately 46 kg. Work was also carried out on the main and side façades until the stone was removed from the initial construction.

The building has a surface area of 90 m² and measures 15 metres long x 6 metres wide. It has a single nave with 20 attached Ionic-style columns. Together with Benicalaf, it is the smallest example of a parish church in Camp de Morvedre. It has chapels between the buttresses in the tradition of the Valencian Gothic style. The vaulted ceiling is half-barrel vaulted and is built on pillars and attached columns, with semicircular arches, the choir is high above the entrance of a simple doorway, supported by a long lintel and an attached tower with a single body and masonry coping on the right side, looking from the Epistle.

Inside there is a main altarpiece with a decorated plaster image of the patron saint of the church and on either side there are niches with a Sacred Heart in decorated plaster and an Ecce Homo in an enamel painting from the end of the 18th century measuring 0.35 by 0.24 metres, thought to be miraculous. The provenance of the aforementioned painting could be from the Monastery of Sancti Spiritu in Gilet. In the side chapels there are images of Saint Teresa and Saint Christ crucified, the latter in a niche, and of Saint Vincent Ferrer, on the left or Gospel side. And in the opposite baptistery with a modern stone font with a lithograph of the baptism of Christ and niches with images of the Immaculate Conception, smaller, and Saint Joseph, both carvings from the 19th century, and Baby Jesus, also small, on a ledge between two projecting columns.
