Description

Serra Castle, also known as Alto del Pino Castle, is a small Arab fortress built between the 8th and 9th centuries. It is located on the mountain of the same name at an altitude of 536 metres, near the town. The castle belonged to the defensive system of the north of Valencia and its location is typical of castles from the Arab period: situated on a peak that dominates both the Turia valley and the access to the Serra Calderona.

The castle is a fortress with a floor plan of 600 square metres. A square tower is preserved at the northeast end of the castle, as well as two walls with battlements that converge with the first one and a cistern. There are remains of a second tower, located to the northwest, smaller than the previous one, as well as fragments of the perimeter walls and traces of the exit of the same walls that allow us to reconstruct the irregular plan of the castle.

Its altitude allows us to see part of the Valencian coastline, the regions of l'Horta and the Serra Calderona. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.
