Description

The old Palace of the Híjar and Portaguerra (or Menaguerra) is located in the historic center of the town of Siete Aguas, in the old Plaza del Moral (now Plaza de la Constitución), just to the left of the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista (XVIII century). According to the description in the Architectural Heritage Catalog of Siete Aguas, it is a building between party walls with a corral and later outbuildings.

Building with original unitary character. At present it is very compartmentalized. It consists of a semi-basement, first floor and two floors. The semi-basement, which occupies the entire building, has direct access through the main façade, and communicates with the rear corrals.

The first floor has been divided into a house, the side access to another house in height, and part of the original hallway that leads to the house on the second floor and another that is located in the old cambra. So there are three dwellings and an office space in the building.

The Palace of the Portaguerra, was arranged facing the Medieval Tower (also called Tower of the Lordship) -already disappeared-, being located in front of the Houses of the Moor Romeu and the Camino de Castilla, on the other hand faced with the irrigation ditch that crossed the Villa to the Puerta de la Jordana (old Lavadero de Siete Aguas, now disappeared).
