Description

The current view of the Church of Tavernes (Iglesia Parroquial de la Trinidad) may lead us to think that its past is very recent, as its creation dates back to 1948. However, its roots go further back than that. The historical-religious past of Tavernes can be found in its Hermitage, prior to 1631, and there have been many events that have led to the creation of the current Temple. The construction of the parish, given the growth of the population of the place, was granted in 1631.
And on 8 December 1695, the church was blessed, the main image of which would continue to be the Trinity, which presided over the High Altar. The temple had an approximate surface area of 274 m2, one more bell was added to the bells of the chapel, and over time the interior was decorated, with the altarpiece of the High Altar, made by the sculptor Nadal Climent.
Two major devastations destroyed the church. The first was the French invasion in 1811, and the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), which destroyed the church completely.
Thus, on the 28th of August 1948, the procession went out to bless the new church. Its current location will thus be more central, opposite the Town Hall and the Casino, where the services had been held during the previous period.
