Legend has it that King James II Just, on seeing the land, until then called Alfandech, said to the abbot of the Cistercian monastery of Santes Creus "what a worthy valley", referring to the construction of a new monastery.
La leyenda habla de que el Rey Jaume II El Just al ver aquellas tierras, hasta entonces llamadas de Alfandech, le dijo al abad del monasterio cisterciense de Santes Creus “qué valle más digna” refiriéndose a la construcción de un nuevo monasterio.
