Description

La Huerta, Casa y Capilla de Trénor is a public property whose extraordinary value lies in the orchard, which has been converted into a botanical garden. This architectural ensemble has its origins in an old hermitage in the 16th century.
This architectural ensemble has its origins in an old hermitage. In the 16th century, San Juan de Ribera authorised the foundation of a convent of Franciscan monks, of which only a few remains are preserved. Later, in the 19th century, the convent was taken into the hands of the State, and part of the land was publicly auctioned, passing into the hands of the Count of Montesinos. Over time, the convent's premises were successively used as a charity house, a Civil Guard house and schools, until 1889, when the Capuchin tertiaries moved in. Years later, the land was acquired by the Trénor family, from whom the orchard is known today. In 1982, the owners ceded the land to the Torrente Town Council for use as a public garden.
In 1984, the "Parque Municipal Hort de Trènor" was inaugurated and in 2010 it was reformed to make it look as similar as possible to how the park used to look in the old days.
