Description

The Palace of Benicarló or Palace of the Borja is the seat of the Valencian Parliament, this property has passed through different and important families, in its beginnings it belonged to the House of Borja in the year 1485, abandoning this house in the middle of the 18th century by the Dukes of Gandía, leaving it in a ruinous state. It passed to the House of Benavente and finally to the House of Osuna in the middle of the 19th century, when it was sold to the Count of Benicarló. The Pujals family acquired the property and established a silk factory in the middle of the 19th century. During the Spanish Civil War it was the seat of the government of the 2nd Spanish Republic, which was installed in Valencia. Listed as an Asset of Local Relevance
