Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles(Vallanca)

The parish church of Vallanca is one of the oldest in the Rincón de Ademuz, having been documented as early as the first third of the 13th century. However, the parish church that we can see today, which came to replace the old one, took on its definitive appearance at the end of the 17th century. It is a Baroque building, at least in its cladding. It was restored after the Civil War.
It has a longitudinal plan with a wide central nave and five interconnected side chapels and a baptistery.
It has three naves with pillars and attached columns, semicircular arches and barrel vaults with lunettes, a choir and a tower at the foot of the Gospel nave. The most outstanding feature of the interior is the use of sgraffito decoration, which covers columns, arches, vaults and cornices, whose motifs are characteristic of the last decade of the 17th century and are executed in white on a black background.
Although present in other churches in the region, the sgraffito work in the parish church of Vallanca is particularly extensive and perfect and is undoubtedly the best preserved.

La parroquia de Vallanca se halla entre las más antiguas del Rincón de Ademuz, documentándose su dezmería ya en el primer tercio del siglo XIII. No obstante, el templo parroquial que hoy podemos contemplar, que vino a sustituir al antiguo, tomó su aspecto definitivo al final del siglo XVII. Se trata de un edificio barroco, al menos en su revestimiento. Restaurado después de la Guerra Civil.
Posee planta longitudinal con ancha nave central y cinco capillas laterales comunicadas entre sí y un baptisterio.
Formado por tres naves con pilares y columnas adosadas, arcos de medio punto y bóvedas de cañón con lunetas, coro y torre a los pies de la nave del evangelio. De su interior lo más destacable es la utilización de la decoración en esgrafiado, que tapiza columnas, arcos, bóvedas y cornisas, cuyos motivos son característicos de la última década del siglo XVII y están realizados en blanco sobre fondo negro.
Aunque presentes en otros templos comarcales los esgrafiados de la iglesia parroquial de Vallanca se desarrollan con especial amplitud y perfección y son, sin duda, los mejor conservados.
