Description

In Rieti there are three statues dedicated to some iconic characters of the city (real or symbolic), which are evidence of its past: the Statue of San Francesco; the statue of Marco Terenzio Varrone; the Statue of the farmer.
The bronze statue of Marco Terenzio Varrone, located in Piazza Guglielmo Oberdan, was created by the local artist Dino Morsani.
The monument commemorates the Roman general who was born in Rieti in 116 B.C. and that was commissioned by Gaius Julius Caesar to set up the library of Rome.
