Description

Unique exhibits are Polovtsian "babas", Kernosovsky idol and a collection of Cossack antiquities.
Now the exhibition on the history of the region from ancient times to the present has 9 halls:
- Ancient history of the region
- Zaporizhzhya Cossacks
- Ekaterinoslav region in the XIX century.
- Industrial revolution of the late XIX - early XX centuries.
- Civil war (1917-1920)
- The region in 1920-1939
- The region in the Second World War (1939-1945). The hall is on re-exposition since 2018.
- Modern history of Dnipropetrovsk region (1945 - present). The hall is at the stage of re-exposition and reconstruction since 1997.
- Permanent exhibition "It must not happen again" (Stalinist repressions in Dnipropetrovsk region in 1930-1950s).

Collections of the museum:
- Archaeological Collection;
- Monuments of Ancient Egypt;
- Ancient collection; in 2019, a local Nikopol local historian Oleg Fateev donated a large collection of fragments of ancient Greek amphorae, which he had been collecting for 33 years; ancient Greek amphorae were discovered near the former large Scythian settlement near the village of Kapulivka and were imported to Scythia from various ancient Greek cities-states;
- Collection of Cossack antiquities;
- Cult collection;
- Ethnographic collection;
- Ceramics, porcelain, glass;
- Collection of weapons;
- Faleristic collection;
- Museum mosaic;
- Numismatics and bonistics;
- Collection of watches;
- Memorial items;
- Book and archive collection;
- Photo-, phono-, film-, video materials.
