Description

Arriving in Donetsk, visit this amazing monument of Ukrainian architecture of the late 20th century. Climb to the top tier of the cathedral bell tower. From there you will have a beautiful view of the city center.
At the end of the 19th century, local residents of the town of Yuzivka raised funds for the construction of an Orthodox wooden church by their own efforts. Over time, thanks to the generous donations of the landowners, the church was improved, and later replaced its wooden base with a stone one.
The existence of the Orthodox church played a huge role in the spiritual life of Yuzivka. A Brotherhood school was established at this church, services, talks and baptisms were held. Prayers within its walls healed from mental and physical illnesses. However, in the 30s of the 20th century the church was undermined due to the need for additional building materials.
It was decided to move the new building of the Transfiguration Cathedral closer to the center of Donetsk. This temple, like the previous shrine, had five domes. Above them rose a three-tiered bell tower, on the upper tier of which was placed a dial. It ended with an oblong spire. The Transfiguration Cathedral differed from the old church by its original architectural composition, which combined both Old Russian and European styles. The whole building had a monumental and majestic appearance, but at the same time it was characterized by harmony and softness of forms and lines. The front side of the temple consisted of three naves. The sides were decorated with high arched windows equal to the height of the building. Above the main entrance was built a balcony, on both sides of which hung two white crucifixes. Before entering the temple you will see a statue of Archangel Michael - the guardian of the Ukrainian people. Go inside the temple. You will see the church choir, whose singing is impressive. Pay attention to the interior design - frescoes, tiles, interior elements - all made to order.
The relics of the great martyrs and images of saints are brought to the Transfiguration Cathedral from time to time. Hundreds of Ukrainians make pilgrimage to this place. Now in the temple there are three miraculous icons. The first of them is the Mother of God "Iverskaya", which frees both men and women from the crown of celibacy. The second is the Mother of God "All-Holy Mother", which heals from serious diseases. The third icon depicts Panteleimon the Healer, who cures the souls and bodies of people. Visiting the church service in the cathedral, you can not only admire the works of great icon painters, but also light a candle for health and pray.
