Description

The area of the park is 140 hectares. On its territory there are more than 30 species of trees and shrubs, a network of natural and artificial canals. At the entrance to the park there is an alley of sculptures, a summer theater, a music stage, a dance floor, pavilions, attractions, sports and children's playgrounds, a mini zoo, places for recreation.
The first plantings appeared in 1947-1948, the improvement began in 1949. Originally the park was called Komsomolsky, in 1967 it was renamed in honor of the 50th anniversary of October. In 1993, on the occasion of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Khmelnytskyi, it was named "Central City Park of Culture and Recreation named after the 500th anniversary of Khmelnytskyi". In the same year, the park was granted the status of a monument of landscape art of local importance.
In Chekman Park there was a music stage, a chess pavilion and a reading pavilion. There was also a dance floor.
In 2008, the park was renamed "Mykhailo Chekman Park of Culture and Recreation" to perpetuate the memory of Mykhailo Chekman, the former mayor of Khmelnytskyi.
In the park named after Chekman there is a zoo, a fountain, bicycle paths, flower alleys. In 2019, they began to renovate the playground here. A modern rubber coating has already been laid here, swings, trampolines, carousels and a rope complex have been installed.
In January 2021, the artificial turf at the new playground in Chekman Park was damaged. It is planned to be replaced in the spring.
Visitors to the petting zoo can now feed the animals by purchasing feed kits on the spot. This was introduced in February 2021.
