Description

It seems as if it reaches up to the sky. The church is known for its "crimson" bells, made by masters from the Belgian city of Mahelen. They have an extremely pleasant to the ear chime timbre, which you will not hear anywhere else in Zaporizhzhia.

Immediately after Ukraine gained independence, churches and cathedrals began to be actively restored in Zaporizhzhia. However, not all communities of the city were able to immediately build their own churches.
- In 1992, the community of the Church of St. Nicholas united in a small utility room, which became their church for a long time.
- For almost 10 years, the parishioners raised funds, and only in 2001 construction began. With various difficulties (in 2002 the church was set on fire, it suffered significant damage) the church was completed by 2008. The faithful were actively involved in the construction: they built the walls, embroidered towels, and ennobled the territory.
- A significant date for the parishioners of St. Nicholas Church was October 30, 2011. On this day, Patriarch Filaret of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church consecrated the throne and the church. Today at St. Nicholas Church there are Sunday and music schools, they also help the homeless by inviting them to hot lunches.

Both outside and inside the Church of St. Nicholas is made in a restrained and aristocratic style. There are no unnecessary details and decorations - only gold and white walls. However, the more striking against such a modest background are the individual elements - the highlights of the temple. Namely, the iconostasis with the faces of saints in the style of the famous medieval icon painter Andriy Rublev. In combination with unusual overflows of church bells, which give goosebumps, it gives a feeling of peace and spiritual uplift. Therefore, leaving this temple, you feel a real holiday of the soul.
